What is an Apprenticeship?
- A framework of training obtained in the work place
- A formal qualification
- Dependent on the occupational area, formal training at college or a training establishment on day release basis
- Advice and support for employers to successfully access training
Why your company should take part in the programme?
- Apprentices are people aged 16 plus who want to learn and make a difference to your business. They are enthusiastic about training and about doing their best. They are the very best kind of employee - those who want to be there and want to succeed.
- Apprenticeship programmes are funded so in many cases training will be delivered free of charge. Your employee will be supported by a training provider who will meet with you and your Apprentice to agree a learning programme. The Apprenticeship will often involve day release where your employee will learn from experienced trainers in your occupational area as well as meeting other people to share good practice and ideas.
- Your Apprentice will also benefit from a nationally recognised qualification (an Apprenticeship) that is the equivalent to 4 GCSE's grade C or above or 2 A' levels (an Advanced Apprenticeship). - Any employees in this age range that have gained a degree are ineligible to receive Apprenticeship training
Additional Information
Funding is available for the full cost of apprenticeship training for most employees aged 16-19. In many cases those aged 20-21 will also be funded either in full or in part.
